HI, I am Charles Dion Springfield!

I am a certified sommelier, author, wine educator and cultural curator whose work sits at the intersection of wine, storytelling and meaningful human connection. Known for my approachable yet elevated style, I have built a career demystifying wine while honoring its cultural, historical and social significance.

With more than a decade of experience in wine education and experiential programming, I design and lead corporate and private wine experiences, curated tastings and educational classes that are engaging, inclusive and rooted in intention.

My work is especially valued by organizations and audiences seeking thoughtful programming that goes beyond surface-level consumption and instead fosters conversation, connection and cultural awareness.

I am the author of The Less Is More Approach to Wine and Maneuvering Rosé Wine With Style, two books that reflect my philosophy: wine should feel accessible, enjoyable, and empowering — never intimidating. This ethos carries through all of my work, from intimate tastings to large-scale events, media appearances and speaking engagements.

In addition to my work as an educator and author, I am also the publisher of DION Magazine, a digital wine + lifestyle platform that highlights underrepresented voices and untold stories across wine, food and culture. Through DION, I collaborate with winemakers, sommeliers, chefs, creatives and brands to spotlight diverse perspectives and create culturally relevant content.

I also develop online wine courses and digital learning experiences designed for curious beginners, passionate enthusiasts and professionals alike. These courses reflect his belief that wine education should meet people where they are — offering clarity, confidence and context rather than complexity for complexity’s sake.
